JWD InfoLogistics operates one of Thailand's largest cold chain warehousing networks, where temperature control is not just about energy efficiency — it is about cargo integrity. A 2°C deviation in a pharmaceutical cold room can result in millions of baht in spoiled inventory.

Project scope

We deployed an EMS platform covering 120+ measurement points across JWD's flagship Bang Na facility, including chillers, cold rooms, ambient warehouses, loading bays and office areas. Smart meters were installed at the main distribution board and key sub-panels, with temperature and humidity sensors in every temperature-controlled zone.

Technical highlights

The EMS aggregates data at 15-second intervals and pushes it to a cloud dashboard accessible by facility managers, energy auditors and the executive team. Automated alerts trigger when any cold room temperature exceeds its setpoint by more than 0.5°C, or when a compressor's power draw deviates from its baseline by more than 10% — both early indicators of equipment faults.

Results

Within six months of deployment, the EMS identified a faulty expansion valve on chiller no. 3 that had been causing intermittent overcooling — wasting an estimated 85,000 THB in electricity over the preceding quarter. Overall facility energy intensity dropped by 11% through a combination of schedule optimisation, setpoint rationalisation and preventive maintenance triggered by EMS data. The system paid for itself in under nine months.
